Dorrance Davis

Dorrance Davis has a unique background, having previously worked in prisons as a lecturer, where she taught ex-offenders the fundamentals of starting their own businesses upon release.

Reflecting on her experiences, Dorrance observed a concerning trend: many individuals swiftly returned to incarceration due to a lack of stable accommodation and support to pursue their aspirations. Motivated to make a difference, she initiated a grassroots effort by providing meals and support to the homeless at a local church.

Through these interactions, Dorrance recognised the diverse needs of the homeless, spanning from addiction and mental health challenges to fractured familial ties. She understood that many individuals struggled to transition from institutionalised settings or life on the streets to mainstream society.

Drawing upon existing resources and community connections, Dorrance embarked on a mission to address this gap by establishing supported accommodation services. This initiative aimed to provide a nurturing environment where individuals could receive the assistance and guidance needed to reintegrate into society successfully.
